At last Chrome comes to Apple (both iPhone and iPad), it doesn’t have all the features as the desktop version of the browser by the same name but if does have a lot of the features you expect to see on a phone browser including: Multiple tabs, History, Privet Browsing and what makes this a great app (if you use Chrome on your desktop / laptop) is that it syncs with the desktop version of it self.

I’ve been using it for about a week now with no crashes and no problems opening any webpage at all.

Moneyball

Staring:

Brad Pitt

Jonah Hill

Trailer:

Whats It About:

In sport as in life not every thing is fair, some times not matter how good a job you do or hard you work you’ll never reach the same level as over people and Baseball is no exception, that is until some one re-invents the rule book and looks at building a team not based on their star quality but on their ability to win games as part of the team. You could say it is cheating, you could say it is total war but its 100% what Moneyball is about.

Is it Any Good:

As a sports movie its great, it has all the highs and lows you expect, it has the insane challenges to be over come, it has the personal sorry of Billy trying to balance his personal life with his working life – in short it has it all. More so Moneyball also has something for non-baseball fans (and I am one of those) fans in the fact that yes its about baseball but it’s also about doing every thing you can and staying the course even when every one around you thinks your insane.

Overall:

A great sports film with great acting from the whole cast, it’s not cheesy, it’s very real to life (it’s based on a true story) although if you can’t see past the base-ball and you’re not a sports fan then its most likely not for you. 4 out of 5

Ok so I’m in Tenerife on holiday and as we go to check out the receptionist say “oh good, we had a lot of complaints about the noise” firstly what, that’s going to make us want to come back isn’t it… No and then second, unless I snore really loudly (which I don’t think is the case) then we made no noise late at night.

Yes we where chatting on the balcony at 12:00 (not 03:00 or 04:00 in the morning) but with hushed voices, no in fact what the receptionist meant to say was “we’re really sorry but our security are a bunch of min wage arse wholes who can’t be bothered to work the whole night so when they want to go to bed every one must go to bed”

Just to let you all know, my friend has been to the same apartments for a number of years and knows the permanent guest next door very well and she didn’t complain once about our hushed talking.

So todays rant is about Receptionist that say silly things just when your leaving, they don’t ask you if you where making any noise, they assume the security guard that couldn’t come up and knock on the door of the night in question was telling the truth well miss receptionist I’m glad we left as well course we had a great time, most of it spent out side your hotel and away from your control freaking, lazy ass security and you.

The Dark Knight Rises

Staring:

Christian Bale

Tom Hardy

Anne Hathaway

Morgan Freeman

Michael Caine

Trailer:

Whats it About:

I’m Batman… (Sorry had to get that in) Set 8 years on from the last Batman movie (which was epic if not a little long in places) the new Batman Movie looks just as epic and I hope a little bit more to the point in places but just as Dark (I can’t see Tom Hardy playing as good a bad guy as Heath Ledger but Heath was by fair the best thing in The Dark Knight) as the last two instalments. Batman is branded an enemy of Gotham City after taking the rap for Two Faces crimes in The Dark Knight and so takes a back seat allowing Gordon (Chief Gordon for the TV show fans) to keep up the good fight in cleaning up the city.

Eight years on and Gordon has almost completely cleaned the city up and Bruce is ready to give up the streets and move on with his normal life when a new bad guy turns up, one that Gordon can’t handle, one that requires a darker approach to handle and so in steps Batman to save the City.

Oh and there is Cat Women, who appears to be a little more than eye candy (as she has been in the past).

So you have:

1) Batman who’s out to defend the city and keep away from the police

2) A new bad guy who is billed as the worst thing since, well the Joker.

3) A hot Cat Women

I really want to see this movie.

50/50

Staring:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Seth Rogen

Anna Kendrick

Trailer:

Whats it About:

Billed as a comedy, this is more a rom-com, its about Adam who plays life safe but still gets the life changing news that his got cancer, then his girl friend cheats on him and his best mate is driven him up the wall (as well as his mom). Adam meets Katherine his therapist – as Adam starts to come to terms with his card in life he gets a new out look on life.

Is it any good:

As a comedy note really, its based on a true storey about cancer after all, don’t get me wrong there are some great, lol scenes with a dog but apart from that it had me looking for the comedy rather then it just being there, however as a feel good drama its great, however I wouldn’t watch it again.

Overall:

Up lifting yes, inspiring – to a point, funny – alas not very – 3 out of 5

We Need To Talk About Kevin

Staring:

Tilda Swinton

Ezra Miller

Jasper Newell

Ashley Gerasimovich

John C. Reilly

Trailer:

Whats it about:

First of I need to say that I have read the book from which the film is based on and loved the book, so yes as with any one that reads the book before watching a film of said book had high hopes for the movie. We need to talk about Kevin the movie is very true to the book – its about a mother and her lack of love or any kind of connection to her son, right from the start of Kevin (Eva’s Son) life until the night where Kevin completely changes every ones life for ever.

Is It Any Good:

You may have though that because I feel its very true to the book that I loved it – well you’d be wrong, in a book you can do flash backs differently to how you do it in a film – the book uses letters from Eva to Freckling reminiscing about the past, the movie has no thought of how to tell the past life from the present day and this is a real problem as you the viewer becomes lost in whats the present day, the past or the recent past. Now I don’t like to just point out problems with out some solutions (even thought the damage is done in this case) but the film makers could have set the flash backs up with Eva going to a desk to write the letters – that would have worked fine and it would have been so easy to do.

Overall: All in all this film is fine but it should have been great which is a real let down – if you know that your going from the present to past and really focus on this you may enjoy this movie – however I read the book and knew what was and wasn’t the present and even I found it a real plot killer. 3 out of 5.

And as per yesterdays post – I’ve also been on holiday to Tenerife – below are the pics and some reviews of places visited will follow

Sorry all for the long delay between posts – its been a very busy time, with my Brothers wedding and then a holiday. the good news is that it’s all back to normal now – below are the pictures the Chef Usher – Phillip Dry took on the day.

Price: Free

What Dose It Do: It’s a to do list

And in More Detail: Ok so the standard To Do List is great with iSO – its syncs over iCloud with your Mac or iPad (or both) fine but there is a problem – want to sync it with a PC running windows… Ah that’s a problem – not with Wounderlist. Want to be able to send your self emails to set tasks, again not a problem, Wounderlist knows your email address so provided you’re emailing from that address it will be added to your list – simply add the target address in your contacts.

So thats all the standard stuff out the way with what else can you do, well you can change the backgrounds, star tasks and even set due dates and search for tasks based on the time there due for example – you can view only the tasks due in the int he next seven days, Todays, Tomorrow or Later. You can also review task already completed.

Overall: I use to think, why are the so many To Do apps on the store, when most of them don’t add any value above the standard To Do App in iOS but Wounderlist is a real upgrade and its free.

Sleeping Beauty

Staring:

Rachael Blake

Bridgette Barrett

Emily Browning

Trailer:

Whats It About:

Lucy, a struggling student is working the night to help make end meet, when she is offered a job serving silver service but there is a twist, a rather fetish twist. Is this as low as Lucy can go to earn money. Well no, there are some things that are worse and agreeing to take drugs that will put you to sleep can be a lot worst then all that.

Is It Any Good:

All in all its ok, and only ok – yes some of the photography is great and some of the scenes are very brave and arty but all in all its a very slow movie – which is a shame, I think this would have had the same impact had it been a short film. Lucy has a very strange relationship with Thomas, its clear they both love each other but it’s not a normal relationship and the film never explains this. Even right at the end there are problems – for example: Lucy wants to know what happens when she’s in her drug induced sleep and so sets up a spy camera, but they was no need as she finds out any hows – just a time-wasting scene and the film has loads of them – hence it could have worked just as well as a short movie.

Overall: I wouldn’t watch this movie again but if you like fetish then you may enjoy this movie, could have, no should have been a short movie rather than a full feature – would have been great then 2 out of 5
